EDWARD ALEXANDER DREW, born on the 23rd January, 1822, died at Braughing, Hertfordshire, on the 23rd January, 1912, aged 90.
Articled to Colonel Landmann, R.E., he gained his subsequent experience under the late Mr. Peter Barlow on the London and Greenwich Railway and other works.
During his later career he was employed on railway works both at home and abroad, notably on the Ottoman Railway and as Engineer of lines in Honduras and Bolivia, and reported on railways and mines in various countries.
Retiring in 1892, he devoted the remainder of his life to meteorological and other pursuits.
Mr. Drew was elected an Associate of The Institution on the 2nd May, 1854, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 29th November, 1864. He had thus been connected with The Institution nearly 60 years.
