"EDGAR STANLEY CLOGS, B.A., was formerly first assistant and head of the evening school department at the Seddon Memorial Technical College, New Zealand, and had been engaged in teaching throughout his professional carter. He received his theoretical training in engineering at Queensland University and took his B.A. degree in New Zealand. His apprenticeship was served as an engineering cadet with the Queensland Railways from 1904 to 1909. He began his career as a teacher two years later with the post of lecturer in charge of the engineering department at the Christchurch Technical College, but went back to Australia in 1913 where he was a teacher of engineering in Technical Colleges at Brisbane and Ipswich. Returning again to New Zealand he joined the staff of Wanganui Technical College. From there he came to Seddon Memorial College in 1923, where he remained until his retirement after twenty-seven years' service. He was also an examiner in technological and engineering subjects for the education department. Mr. Close, whose death occurred on 3rd June 1951 in his sixty-sixth year, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1919."
