Ed. and Trained: Rutherford College and Armstrong College, Newcastle-on-Tyne. App. at John Spencer and Sons, Newburn Steelworks, Newcastle-on-Tyne; Steelworks Engr., Cammell, Laird and Co., Penistone, 1913; with Riley, Hargreaves, Singapore, and while in the Army built a light railway from El Ferdar into desert; appointed to M. of M. on Gun Repair under Sir Glynn West; afterwards Director of Forgings, Castings and Stampings for Gun and Howitzer Equipments.
