Docker Brothers varnish manufacturers of High St., Bordesley, Birmingham and London
1877 Established[1]. Dealing in varnish for blacking stoves began, presumably, by William S. Docker
1881 F. Dudley Docker joined the firm. Dudley later achieved substantial change in the engineering industries, especially electrical engineering, in the first quarter of the 20th century.
After 1881 Ludford Charles Docker joined his brothers in the business
1899 Docker Brothers was converted into joint stock company[2].
1901 Ludford Charles Docker and Dudley Docker Ltd were in business in Rotten Park Street, Birmingham[3]
1907 Acquired by Metropolitan Amalgamated Railway Carriage and Wagon Co which was one of Docker Brothers largest customers[4]. Docker Brothers was voluntarily liquidated; Ludford Docker chaired the meeting[5]
1907 23 May: Docker Brothers Ltd was incorporated[6]
1911 Frank Dudley Docker, Ludford Charles Docker and Docker Brothers Ltd were in business in Rotten Park Street, Birmingham[7]
1914 Managing Directors: Frank Dudley Docker, C.B., J.P., and Ludford Charles Docker, J.P.
1927 Acquired by Pinchin, Johnson and Co[8]. Name changed to Dockers Estates Ltd
1937 Manufacturers of aircraft dope, varnishes, lacquers etc. Cellusol Cellulose Lacquers. "Syntholux" Synthetic Lacquers. "Thermolux" Synthetic Stoving Enamel.
