David (Didier) Roth was born in 1800 in Cassovia (Hungary)
The young Roth left to study medicine in Vienna. He later left for Paris, probably due to the anti-Semitic sentiment in Vienna.
For 30 years he practiced homeopathic medicine, with a wealthy Parisian clientele.
Roth was also an inventor of calculating machines and measuring instruments.
Between 1840 and 1844, Roth filed six patents.
