"DAWSON ADAMS was associated with the electrical side of engineering throughout his career, the whole of which was spent at Preston.
He received his early education at schools in Jarrow and also obtained private tuition in engineering. His apprenticeship was served with Messrs. Ernest Scott and Mountain, Ltd., of Newcastle upon Tyne, from 1891 to 1895.
He began his long connection with Preston in 1896 with the post of junior engineer to the National Electric Supply Company, Ltd., and later in the same year was made engineer in charge. He was promoted to be chief assistant engineer three years later. In 1922 he became deputy borough electrical engineer for the Corporation, and after occupying this position for twelve years was appointed borough electrical engineer, which office he retained until his retirement in 1937. Mr. Adams had been an Associate Member of the Institution for forty-six years, having been elected in 1903. He was also an Associate Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers. His death occurred on 25th February 1949, in his seventy-seventh year."
