DAVID MORRIS, born at Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, on the 8th December, 1842, died at that place on the 22nd May, 1913.
Having obtained his practical training under the late Mr. C. G. Bateman, of Llanelly, he went out to India in 1867 and was posted to the Karachi harbour works. Subsequently he was engaged on the construction of the Indus Valley and other railways, and in exploring for minerals and developing coal-seams in Baluchistan.
From 1890 to 1898, when he retired, he was Engineer to the Karachi Port Trust, and also reported on other harbours in India. He was a lieutenant-colonel of the Karachi Volunteers and filled many local affairs in Wales.
Mr. Morris was elected an Associate Member of The Institution on the 2nd December, 1884, and was transferred to the class of Members on the 21st May, 1889.
