David Lennox (1788-1873)
1788 Born in Ayr, Scotland.
He became a master mason and for some 20 years held responsible positions in Britain, working on many bridges. These included Telford's suspension bridge over the Menai Straits and the 46m span stone-arch bridge over the Severn River at Gloucester
His wife having died in 1828, he took passage to Australia in the Florentia, arriving in Sydney in August 1832.
Built a number of bridges in Australia
1843 November. Appointed district surveyor to the Parramatta Council.
October 1844 Governor Sir George Gipps appointed him to the Port Phillip District as superintendent of bridges
1853 Retired from the public service of Victoria
