Datastream plc, of London, provider of computer-based information and computation services to the financial securities industry.

1964 Hoare and Co established a research department that began to use computers to provide financial information.

1969 Installation of computer terminals in clients's offices.

Adopted the name Datastream

1974 With NRDC funding, Datastream started offering services to clients in continental Europe.

1976 The company was acquired by a consortium of companies, to avoid the restrictions of being owned by just one company; investors included BOC Group, Touche Remnant, Lazard Brothers and Co, Prudential Assurance Co, etc.

1983 Public offer of shares in the company, a holding company, whose sole trading subsidiary was Datastream International[1]

1984 The company's ultimate parent company was Dun and Bradstreet Corporation of USA[2]

By 1995 was owned by Primark Corporation of USA.
