1842 Advert: 'TO ENGINEES, IRON FOUNDERS, & OTHERS
TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, On the Premises, situated at the Ouseburn. Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on, Monday the 5th Day of Dec., 1842, and following Days, at Eleven o'Clock in the Forenoon OF EACH DAY:
MESSRS. SMALL & BROUGH, Auctioneers,
ALL the valuable STOCK & MACHINERY, now in the Iron Foundry at Ouseburn, lately carried on by Messrs Crowther and Smith. The Stock comprises Two self-acting Lathes, Drilling, Planeing, Screwing, and Groove-cutting Machines, together with a quantity of Tools, and other Effects for Foundry Purposes.
The Foundry is now to be Let for a Term of Years, and the Models, Patterns, Boring Mills, Steam Engines, and other fixed Machinery, to be taken by the Tenant at a Valuation.
The Premises and Stock can be seen on Application to Mr Hugh Joyce, Ouseburn, and further Particulars may be obtained on Application to Messrs T. and W. Chater, Solicitors, Mosley-street, Newcastle, or to Messrs Kell and Apedaile, Solicitors, Gateshead. Catalogues of the Stock will be ready for Delivery on and after Wednesday the 23rd Nov., and may then be had of the Auctioneers.'[1]

1843 Advert: 'TO BE SOLD OR LET, THE IRON FOUNDRY, recently carried on by Messrs Crowther and Smith, situated at the Ouseburn, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The Models, Patterns, Boring Mills, Steam Engines and other Fixed Machinery may be taken at a Valuation. Further Particulars may be obtained on Application to Messrs T. and W. Chater, Solicitors, Newcastle-upon-Tyne; or to Messrs Kell and Apedaile, Solicitors, Gateshead.'[2]

1844 Advert: 'TO ENGINEERS, FOUNDERS, &c. MESSRS SMALL AND BROUGH Have received Instructions to SELL BY AUCTION, On the Premises lately occupied by Messrs Crowther and Smith, Engineers and Founders, Ouseburn, Newcastle, on Monday the 13th May Inst., at 11 o'Clock in the Forenoon, ONE STEAM ENGINE, 12 HORSE- POWER. ONE STEAM ENGINE, 6 HORSE-POWER. TWO SELF-ACTING LATHES. ONE SLOTTING MACHINE. ONE PLANEING MACHINE. ONE SCREWING MACHINE. ONE BORING MILL. Together with many other useful Articles. Academy of Arts, Blackett Street, Newcastle, lst May, 1844. [3]

1845 Advert. 'TO MANUFACTURERS AND OTHERS. TO BE SOLD OR LET, for a Term of Years, ALL those Desirable and most Commodious PREMISES, conveniently and eligibly situated at the Ouseburn Bridge, adjoining the Road leading from Newcastle to North Shields, and having a Water Frontage and good Quay of great Extent, where Keels can load and unload. They comprise Blacksmith's and Fitting-up Shops, Pattern Lofts, and other Workshops, Engine House, Cupolas, Moulding House Stoves, Counting House, and other suitable Offices. These Premises, from the contiguity to the Town of Newcastle, and possessing all the essential Requisites for 2 Foundry, and for carrying on an extensive Business in all the various Branches of Engineering, which have been for a Number of Years so successfully prosecuted the late Firm of Messrs. Crowther and Smith, are well worth the Attention those either already engaged desirous of engaging those Branches of Manufacture. Messrs. Rayne and Burn, the present Occupants, will send Person to shew the Premises...'[4]
