1900 The County of Durham Electric Supply Co was incorporated to supply authorised users in bulk with electricity as well as individual users; its shares were held by the County of Durham Electrical Power Distribution Co[2]

1905 Powers to operate the company's generating station at Gateshead were transferred to the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Electric Supply Co[3]; the Newcastle company then supplied all of the County of Durham company's electric power needs.

1932 One of eight companies absorbed by the Newcastle-upon-Tyne Electric Supply Co[4]
