CompAir Ltd, maker of compressed air and hard rock mining machinery, of Slough

1968 The International Compressed Air Corporation was formed from the merger of Broom and Wade and Holman Brothers, with the encouragement of the Industrial Reorganisation Corporation[1]. Principal tradenames: Broomwade, Holman and Maxam[2]

1969 Acquired Reavell and Co, of Ipswich, maker of compressors

1972 Acquired Hydrovane Compressor Co and its related German company from Chloride[3]

1974 Change of group name to CompAir[4]; principal subsidiaries were[5]:

  • CompAir Industrial (previously Broom and Wade, and Reavell)
  • CompAir Maxam (previously Maxam Power and Hamilton Controllers)
  • CompAir Construction and Mining (previously Holman Brothers)

J. F. Holman was chairman.

1974 Developed a rotary screw air compressor range marketed under the BroomWade RotorAir name.[6]

1979 Sir William Mather was chairman.

1980 Recognising a need for finance for expansion the company agreed to being acquired by IC Gas[7]

1985 Siebe acquired CompAir, the compressors division of IC Gas[8]

1985 CompAir Power Tools Ltd received a "Fit for Work" award in recognition of the work done to make work easier for disabled workers[9]

1987 CompAir Reavell offered compressors of various types for marine, offshore and industrial uses[10]

2008 Gardner-Denver Co acquired CompAir
