Combined Electrical Manufacturers Ltd, manufacturers of electrical equipment

1960 Combined Electrical Manufacturers Ltd formed as a public company to amalgamate Hackbridge and Hewittic Electric Co Ltd and Switchgear and Cowans Ltd[1].

1961 As well as the above, the group consisted of Bertram Thomas (Engineers) Ltd, New Switchgear Construction Co Ltd (incorporated 1916), and Richard Whiffen Ltd[2]. In conjunction with Easun Engineering Co, Combined Electrical Manufacturers formed Hackbridge Hewittic and Easun Co of Madras which manufactured transformers.

1967 English Electric took over the company at the same time as AEI was also acquiring a company involved in transformers[3].
