CHARLES PATRICK MOLLOY was born in India on 10th June 1871, and was educated in England.
After serving an apprenticeship in the London Brighton and South Coast Railway shops in Brighton, he went to India and worked on surveys in the Mysore State.
In 1893 he entered the locomotive department of the Southern Mahratta Railway, spending a short time in the drawing office, and then worked as foreman in charge of various engine sheds.
He also acted as Assistant and District Locomotive Superintendent until 1902, when he was appointed a District Locomotive Superintendent, and on the amalgamation of the company with the Madras Railway Co., he held a similar position with the combined railways.
On four occasions he had acted as Deputy Locomotive Superintendent.
He was invalided during November 1921, and died at Madras on 9th January, 1922, at the age of fifty.
He became a Member of this Institution in 1907.
