1825 Born Essex, son of Sarah Davey (b.1791); brother of Sarah, (born 1821), and Henry M. Davey [1]

1851 Living in Mansfield with his wife Caroline and son Henry[2]

Went into partnership with his brother Henry Davey as C. M. and H. M. Davey of Colchester

1865 The firm of Davey, Paxman and Davey was founded by James Noah Paxman and the brothers Henry Davey and Charles Davey.

1871 Master engineer; district manager of insurance company, living in Witham with Caroline Davey 40, Charles J Davey 18, William C Davey 16, Darnton C Davey 14, Adela C Davey 12, May C Davey 10, James C Davey 8, Ernest C Davey 6, Selby C Davey 4, Lionel C Davey 7 Months, and some servants[3]

1878 Charles Matthews Davey died in Colchester on 6 November; his widow Caroline was one of the executors[4]

By 1879 Henry Davey and Charles Davey had withdrawn from the partnership of Davey, Paxman and Co and retired.[5]
