. . . born in 1823 at Budapest . . . Early in 1850 he came to London, and in the following year, on the opening of the Great Exhibition, obtained employment as an interpreter in the Lord Mayor’s Court. While occupied in this capacity he attracted the attention of Mr. Crampton, M. Inst. C.E., who engaged him as his foreign correspondent.
