CHARLES GRAHAM PRICE was born at Hampton Wick on 27th February 1864.
He was educated at the Institution, Mauchline, Ayrshire, and at Daniel Stewart's College, Edinburgh.
In 1880 he commenced an apprenticeship with Messrs Mather, of Edinburgh, and completed it with Messrs. Umpherston, of Leith.
From 1885 to 1889 he was engaged as draughtsman in the latter works, and also in the works of Messrs. Cran and Co., marine engineers, of Leith.
In 1889 he was employed by Messrs. James Currie and Co., Leith, as second and afterwards as chief Engineer, proceeding principally to Baltic Ports.
In 1892 he obtained chief engineer's certificate from the Board of Trade, and in the same year became assistant to the chief engineer of the National Boiler and General Insurance Co., of Manchester, with whom he remained until 1896.
He was then appointed by Messrs. Samuel, Samuel and Co., of London, to proceed to Japan as superintending engineer of their works and to extend the business. During this period he visited Corea for a similar purpose.
On his return to England he was engaged by the same firm to proceed to Baleek Pappan on the east coast of Borneo, to take charge of their oil works and to visit their other works on the coast. While he was thus engaged, paralysis commenced, the result of a serious accident twelve years before when in the Baltic, and he went to the hospital at Singapore; there je was advised to return immediately to England, where his death took place at Wimbledon on 21st August 1903, in his fortieth year.
He became a Member of this Institution in 1897.
