1905 Obituary [1]

CHARLES A. GAWTHORP, who died on March 15, 1905, in his 36th year, was born in June, 1869.

Being of delicate health he was unable to attend ordinary schools in his early years, and was educated privately. In 1889 he matriculated at the Central Technical College, South Kensington, where he remained for three years, leaving in 1892.

From 1893 to the time of his death Mr. Gawthorp was in the employ of the North British and Mercantile Insurance Company, for whom he carried out numerous surveys of electrical installations in various parts of the country.

Mr. Gawthorp was elected an Associate of the Institution in 1893, and was transferred to the class of Associate Members in 1899.
