Opened in 1891.

William Harpur was the Engineer and Architect responsible for design and construction.

Andrew Handyside and Co were the ironwork contractors. Morgan and Williams of Cardiff supplied most of the wrought iron balustrades. The masonry contractor was J. Allen of Cardiff. R. Waygood and Co supplied a hydraulic goods lift.[1]
