1880 Buycrus Foundry and Manufacturing Co was founded in Bucyrus, Ohio.
1895 Reorganized as the Bucyrus Co
1911 The Bucyrus Co, Atlantic Equipment Co and the Vulcan Steam Shovel Co merged to form the Bucyrus Company, a public corporation.
1921 As a spinoff of the hydraulic power efforts at the Bucyrus Company, the Oilgear Company was formed.
1927 Bucyrus merged with Erie Steam Shovel Co forming the Bucyrus-Erie company.
1930 Joined with Ruston and Hornsby Ltd, the leading British maker of excavators to form Ruston-Bucyrus Ltd.
By 1939 the product range had expanded to include tractors, walking draglines and drills.
Post war: continued to expand and build larger and larger drag lines, etc
1988 Acquired the dragline assets of Ransomes and Rapier Ltd.
1996 Changed name to Bucyrus International
1997 Was the largest maker of drag lines; took over Marion Power Shovel Co, the second largest maker.

1921 Company formed as an offshoot of the hydraulic power efforts at the Bucyrus Company. Over time it developed an extensive line of hydraulic products for virtually every application.
1950s the company expanded globally, opening offices in Mexico, France, Italy, Great Britain, and Germany.
1970s several acquisitions including the Petrodyne Co. and Ball Manufacturing Inc.
1980s Oilgear pioneered the use of microprocessors in hydraulics.
1985 Oilgear acquired Towler Hydraulics of Leeds, England.
