1877 Advert: 'STRAPS VERSUS GEARING. BUCK and WATKIN are specially fit up (with the LARGEST LATHE in HALIFAX or neighbourhood) for TURNING and BORING PULLEYS or FLY WHEELS to 16 feet diameter by 3 feet broad on the face, for DRIVING BY BELTING OR ROPES. The larger sizes are made in two halves with planed joints. Straight lengths of Bright Turned Shafting without collars, from 1 1/2in. to 3 in. diameter, at 18s. per cwt. BUCK AND WATKIN, ENGINEERS AND TOOL MAKERS. WELL-LANE, HALIFAX.'[1]
1877 Advert: 'ON SALE, a pair of 14-in. cylinder horizontal high pressure STEAM ENGINES, 2ft. 4in. stroke, flywheel ? feet diameter 14 ins. broad, on face turned up true for a belt. These engines are of Buck and Watkin’s make, and are in first-class working condition ; the owner’s only reason for taking them out is to replace them by a much larger pair of the same make ; can seen at work at the Sun Works, Winding-road, Halifax.— Apply Buck and Watkin, Engineers and Tool Makers, Well-lane, Halifax'[2]
1883 Advert: 'SAMUEL FIRTH AND SONS BRASS FOUNDERS and FINISHERS, Have REMOVED to the Premises lately occupied by Messrs Buck and Watkin, WELL LANE, WINDING ROAD.'[3]
