1886 Advertisement for extensive sale of equipment for the owners, John Denton and Co on account of the seam having been worked out.[1]. The sale included the following:-
MASSIVE PAIR of HORIZONTAL COMPRESSED AIR ENGINES, by Pigott and Farrar, Barnsley, with 44-inch Steam Cylinders, 6ft. stroke with Drop Valves, Air Cylinders, 44 inches. Flywheel, about 20 tons; Massive Crank Shaft. Wrought Iron Cranks, Steel Crank Pins, Air Compressers, working pressure to 65lbs. in first-class working condition. The Engine Beds are about 60 ft long, box section 14in. deep 12in. wide. This Pair of Engines cost upwards of £5,000, and are in first-class working condition.
SPLENDID PAIR POWERFUL HORIZONTAL WINDING ENGINES, by the Haigh Foundry Company, Wigan, with Cornish Drop Valves, 30-in. Cylinder, 5ft. stroke, box section Engine Beds; Massive Wrought Iron Winding Shaft, Powerful Winding Drum, 15ft. diameter, 4ft. wide, in first-class working order.
PAIR HORIZONTAL WINDING ENGINES, Darwin and Co., 22in. Cylinders. 4ft. Stroke, massive W. I. Crank Shaft, powerful Winding Drums. 12ft. dia., 9ft. wide.
PAIR OF POWERFUL HORIZONTAL WINDING ENGINES, Davy Bros., 13in. Cylinder. 3ft. Stroke, with very powerful Gearing for three Pumps.
HORIZONTAL HAULING ENGINE, by Butterworth, Manchester, 15in. Cylinder, 2ft. Stroke, 2 Ton Fly Wheel, Governor, and Offside Pedestal
