1897 July. Letter from Charles F. Monk. '...I took the licensing inspector and others for a ride while the committee saw the car running, and under its direction it was turned, reversed, and stopped. I am pleased to state that the man injured by the car made a speedy recovery...'[2]

1899 March. Auction of the effects of the company. Charles F. Monk, the manager, has now opened in business as Marlborough Motor, Cycle and Engineering Works at 105 North Road, Brighton.[3]
