1968 'Foundry to close early next year. Brettell Lane Foundry Ltd., which made the castings for the Queen Mary and the two Queen Elizabeths and the Royal Yacht Britannia, is to be closed on January 31, 1980. F. H. Lloyd, the controlling group, states that the closure is due to the desperate state of the trade in general engineering. The business from Brettell Lane Foundry is to be transferred to Glazebrook Foundry. Dudley. The staff - fewer than 50 - will be given a month's notice on January 3.'[2]
