Brewers of Cardiff

Samuel Arthur Brain trained as a brewer and rose to be the manager of Dowson Brothers' Phoenix Brewery in Working Street, Cardiff. His uncle, Joseph Benjamin Brain, was a formidable financial figure.

1882 Samuel and Joseph entered a partnership to buy the Old Brewery.

1885 Acquired Watson's Cambrian Brewery in Womanby Street.

1887 Bought land beside the Old Brewery for expansion.

1997 Acquired Crown Buckley which was well represented in the mining valleys and West Wales.
