of Manchester

1850 Slater's Directory of Manchester & Salford, 1850 listed Bott & Allen as copper, tin and zinc packing case makers, brassfounders and gas fitters, 21 Pall Mall. Works: 48 Sidney Street, Chorlton on Medlock. Also listed: George William Bott, brassfounder (Bott & Allen), Old Trafford

21 Pall Mall (off Market Street) was an address shared with a number of other businesses, and was no doubt an office. Reference to the 1850 directory, and to the 1848 O.S. map[1] indicates that the premises in this street were, or had been, large terraced houses. Presumably the area had moved downmarket by 1850 if it was now home to a brass foundry. No. 48 was at the eastern end of Sidney Street.

1853 Partnersip between George William Bott and James Allen, brass founders, manufacturers of Fenton's Patent anti-friction metal, and general tin and copper smiths under the style or firm of Bott and Allen, dissolved by mutual consent. Business to be continued by George William Bott [2]

The firm was probably the successor of Fenton and Bott
