Blaencanaid Furnace

at Blaencanaid, south west of Merthyr Tydfil.

This was a very small 16th century blast furnace, probably no more than 12 ft high. Limited excavation was carried out in 1965.[1]

Formerly a scheduled ancient monument, it was descheduled in 1993.
