Bazett David Colvin (1806-1871)

1806 Born the eldest son of James (1768- ), a merchant trading between London and Calcutta.

1845 Founder Director of the East Indian Railway

1847 Inherited his father's estate at The Grove, Little Bealing, near Ipswich, which thus became the childhood home of his son Sidney Colvin (1845–1927), who grew up to be a critic, curator, and great friend of Robert Louis Stevenson.

East India merchant and partner in the trading company of Crawford, Colvin, and Co., with offices in Calcutta and London
