1862 Göran Fredrik Göransson founded Högbo Stål and Jernwerks AB in Sweden to produce high quality steel. An important product was fish hooks, and a fish and hook are still used in the company's logo.
1886 Production of saw blades started.
1891 Started producing adjustable spanners, for which they are still famous. Their website claims that they were the first to produce adjustable spanners, but this is not correct. Many other types preceded Bahco's design. The design introduced by Richard Clyburn in 1843 was the most similar in principle, but became overshadowed by Bahco's, whose more effective use of material made it lighter and more convenient to use. Interestingly, Bahco adjustable wrenches exported to Britain from 1914 to 1924 were branded 'BAHCO-CLYBURN'. See here.
1916 Berndt August Hjorth bought Enköpings Mekaniska Verkstad in its entirety from Johan Petter Johansson, and his initials gave rise to the name Bahco.
