A generating station in Birmingham

1898 Birmingham Corporation obtained a Provisional Order for the supply of electricity.

1903 The first part of the generating station was completed, and supply began for lighting and power purposes

1903 Supply for traction purposes started

1906 Extensions made to the generating station and plant

1908 Inclusion of the Urban District of Erdington in the area for traction and general supply led to further extensions of the station. The system was changed to 3-phase alternating current at 50 cycles per second.
