The funeral took place at Stretton-on-Dunsmore on Monday afternoon, following cremation at Perry Barr, Birmingham, of Mr. Arthur James Lord, Chairman of Coventry Motor Mart, Ltd. Mr. Lord died at his residence, "Burydyke," Stretton-on-Dunsmore, on Friday last week, at the age of 60 years, following an illness of some twelve months' duration.
A Coventry man, Mr. Lord was born in the Cheylesmore. After serving with Coventry builders, he went to Birmingham Technical College. where he took his certificate as a certified master builder. Among the many large contracts which he secured were the building of the model village at Binley Colliery, a housing estate for Messrs. Bluemels Bros., at Wolston, several schools, including one at Bedworth, Centaur Road School, and another at Radford. He also rebuilt the County Hall, Coventry.
After the War he retired from the building trade and founded the Coventry Motor Mart. Mr. Lord was a widower. He leaves three sons and three daughters.
