"ARTHUR CRYER was connected with technical education during the whole of his professional career, and for thirty-four years had occupied the position of lecturer in mechanical engineering and organizer of technical classes for the Glamorgan County Council. After serving his apprenticeship with Messrs. Smith, Peacock and Tannett, Victoria Foundry, Leeds, from 1878 to 1884, he remained with that firm for a further seven years and rose to be senior draughtsman.
During this latter period he also gained experience as a teacher of engineering subjects at Leeds, Dewsbury, York, and other places. In 1891 he entered upon his final position with the Glamorgan County Council, which he held until his retirement in 1925. Mr. Cryer was a member of the Institution for fifty-six years, having been elected an Associate in 1892 and transferred to Membership in 1902. His death occurred at Bramhall, Cheshire, on 14th July 1948, at the age of eighty-three."
