1845 Arthur Brooke was born at 6 George Street, Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire [1], son of Charles Brooke, a tea dealer[2]

1869 He opened his first tea shop in Manchester.

1871 Charles Brooke 56, tea dealer, lived in Longsight, Manchester, with Arthur Brooke 25, tea dealer, Bertha Brooke 20[3]

Arthur Brooke chose the name for his tea as Brooke Bond simply because it sounded pleasing to his ears. Encouraged by the success of his first shop, he opened further shops in Liverpool, Leeds, Bradford, London and Scotland.

1881 Arthur Brooke 35, tea dealer, lived in Hendon with Alice C. Brooke 30, Margaret A. Brooke 4, Dora Brooke 3, Edgar Brooke 1[4]

1911 Arthur Brooke 66, retired tea dealer, lived in Dorking with Alice Catherine Brooke 60[5]

1918 Died in Golders Green[6]
