1889 Apprentice with Allchin, Linnell and Co of Northampton, general engineers

1891 On insolvency of his employers, transferred indentures to Messrs Grose Norman and Co, Reliance Works, Northampton

1894 draughtsman at Messrs Duke and Ockenden

1895 Resigned post and moved to Gold Coast carrying out water investigations

1896 Assistant engineer on Staines water schemes of London water supply

1896 Returned to Duke and Ockenden, waterworks engineers of Littlehampton

1898 Appointed water engineer with European Petroleum Co

1900 Chief Engineer and manager, Baku

1902 Joined I Mech E; engineer with European Petroleum Co, Baku, South Russia

1904 Left Russia; started work as consulting engineer in London, in partnership with Mr Campbell and Mr Hunter, specialising in petroleum engineering; published "The Oilfields of Russia and the Russian Petroleum Industry".

1930 Living in Sevenoaks[3]

1968 Died in Kensington
