1930 Gained his Royal Aero Club Aviators’ Certificate

1938 Married Imogen Matthey

WWII Served in the RAF, both in the air and in Whitehall

1945 Returned to work for Dunlop

1957 Managing Director, Dunlop Rubber Co

1958-59 President SMMT

1966 Responsible for the committee that produced the Geddes Report on the future of the shipbuilding industry in Britain.

1968 Chairman of Dunlop

1968 Awarded KBE
