Anglo United Plc, of Chesterfield, coal distributors

1967 Anglo United Development Corporation, a Canadian mining group, was exploring in Ireland[1]

1986 Merger with Burnett and Hallamshire, coal miners.[2]

1986 Public company incorporated to acquire Anglo United Development Corporation Ltd

1988 Sold the UK coal mining interests; had interests in open cast coal mining and in supply of solid fuelds. Acquired Seaham Harbour and Dock Co[3]

1989 Acquired Coalite[4]

1989-90 Sold the quarry interests of Coalite to Charter Consolidated[5] and many of the other non-core parts of Coalite[6]

1994 Management buy-out of Charrington Fuels[7], liquid fuels distributor.

1994 Tried to buy Coal Products, the smokeless fuels business of British Coal[8] but failed.

1994 Sold the Brearley Group to Roxspur plc

1995 Sold the solid fuels distribution business to Coal Products[9]

1996 Most of its income came from its production of smokeless fuels. Also owned the Falkland Islands Co[10]

1997 A plan was announced to list the Falkland Islands Co on the Stock Exchange[11]
