c.1836 Born in Glasgow son of Thomas Wingate

1851 Thomas Wingate 51, Engineer, J.P., master employing 185 Men, lived in Whiteinch with Margaret Wingate 49, Grace Wingate 28, Margaret Wingate 22, Lillia Wingate 20, Thomas Wingate 18, Andrew Wingate 15, James Wingate 13, Wilson Wingate 10, Patterson Wingate 8[1]

1861 Engine master, living with his parents in Whiteinch[2]

1864 His father retired from Thomas Wingate and Co in favour of his sons - presumably Thomas, Andrew, Wilson and Patterson.[3]

1870s Wingates closed

1881 Andrew Wingate 46, retired ship builder, lived in Partick, with Margaret A Wingate 41[4]

1901 Andrew Wingate 66, retired ship builders, lived in Crieff, with Margaret A Wingate 61, Ashmonek P Wingate 19[5]
