ANDRE BLASINI STOLLMEYER was the son of Mr. Conrad F. Stollmeyer, of Port of Spain, Trinidad, at which town he was born on the 5th of December, 1858. After being educated at the Queen’s Royal College, Port of Spain, he was articled, in 1874, to Charles Messervy, now Director of Public Works at Grenada, with whom he remained three years.
He was then employed in the Crown Lands Department of Trinidad until September, 1879, when he paid a visit to the United States, for the purpose of gaining some experience of engineering practice in America.
Returning to Trinidad, he entered the Public Works Department on the 25th of March, 1880, as an Assistant Engineer. There he remained until his death, at which time he held the position of Assistant Engineer for the Northern Division of the Island. In 1888 Mr. Stollmeyer’s health began to fail, and, although he several times took leave and travelled with the object of recruiting, it gradually became worse.
