Alfred Richardson (c1909-1965)
1965 Obituary[1]
"We regret to record the death, on December 14, of Mr. Alfred Richardson, director of Foster Wheeler Ltd. and general manager of its Steam Division. Mr. Richardson, who was fifty-six years of age, was born in Lanchester, Co. Durham, and educated at Rutherford Technical College, Newcastle. He commenced his career as an engineering apprentice with Merz and McLellan of Newcastle and Clarke Chapman of Sunderland. Following his apprenticeship he joined Sir W. G. Armstrong Whitworth as works engineer.
In 1937 he joined Mitchell Engineering and was progressively resident engineer at Brimsdown Power Station, contracts engineer and finally assistant manager of construction for the Boiler Department. He was appointed as superintendent of the Erection Department of Foster Wheeler Ltd, in August 1948 and in 1952 became manager of the Construction Department in the Steam Division. He continued in this post until 1960 when he was made general manager of the Steam Division. He was appointed a director of this company in 1964."
