Alfred John Dew (1878-1965) of Speedwell Motor Co, A. J. Dew and Co and Brown Brothers

1878 Born in Reading the son of James Henry Dew and his wife Mary Elizabeth White. Brother to James Walter Henry Dew

Educated at British School, Reading.

1891 Living at Carey Street, Reading: James A. Dew (age 39 born Portsmouth), Plumber - Employer. With his wife Elizabeth Dew (age 38 born Hants.) and their two sons James W. Dew (age 16 born Reading), Plumber, and Alfred J. Dew (age 14 born Reading).[1]

1897 With others including his brother, formed Speedwell Motor Co

1900 Married at Fulham to Rose Hannah A. Williams

1911 Living at Inglecroft, Ford Bridge Rd, Ashford, Middx: Alfred John Dew (age 33 born Reading, Berks), Motor Car Dealer - Employer. With his wife Rose Hannah Ada Dew (age 34 born King's Cross) and their two daughters Violet Gladys Dew (age 9 born Reading) and Marjorie Gwendoline Dew (age 5 months born Ashford). One servant.[2]
