1846 Born in Cullompton, Devon, son of Edward Reed, revenue officer[1]

1871 Manager of paper mills and Wesleyan local preacher, living in Wells, with his sister Helena, 14[2]

1875 Married, in Bath, Emma Vickery daughter of a municipal relieving officer, Robert Vickery and his wife Elizabeth.[3]; his brother William later married another of the sisters.

Albert and his brother William Henry Reed worked together in a Cardiff paper mill. [4].

1881 Manager of paper works and Wesleyan local preacher, living in Pontypridd with Emma Reed 33, Rosaline G. Reed 4, Florence B. Reed 2[5]

1891 Managing director of paper works, living in Gravesend, with Emma Reed 43, Rosaline Emma Reed 14, Florence Beatrice Reed 12, Dora Gertrude Reed 8, Albert Ralph Reed 6, Edward Percy Reed 6[6]

1894 Albert set up a newsprint manufacturing plant at Tovil Mill in Kent which became Albert E. Reed and Co.
