1943 The Fire Control Group of the Admiralty Research Laboratory (ARL) at Teddington was separated out under the control of the Director, Naval Ordnance. AGE assumed responsibility for both Army and Navy fire control work.

1954 Moved to a new site on Portland Bill with new buildings and test facilities.

1959 AGE closed. Its functions were dispersed to the Admiralty Surface Weapons Establishment (ASWE) at Portsdown Hill and the Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) at Fort Halstead.
