ISHERWOOD, Herbert Lewis. Managing Director, H. Radcliffe (Garages) Ltd., Bolton. Born Bolton, 29th June, 1911. Educated at Astley Bridge Private School and Bolton Technical School. Served apprenticeship in engineering with Dobson & Barlow Ltd., and then became Junior Salesman with Parkers Ltd. In 1934 joined Mather & Platt Ltd., as Draughtsman Surveyor until 1941. Became outside representative with De Havilland Aircraft Co. and later Works Superintendent at dispersal factory in Bolton. Served in R.E.s; commissioned and posted to Middle East, serving also in W. Africa with West African Frontier Force. Joined present firm on demobilisation in 1947 and became Managing Director in 1950. Now serving with Loyal Regt. (T.A.) with rank of substantive Major.
