Since the establishment in 1886 of J. Brockhouse and Co., Ltd., Victoria Works, West Bromwich, the continued progress of its various interests makes interesting history in the development of the Transport World. Such have been the extensions and developments, that to-day we have the most up-to-date manufacturing concern in the country we can undertake Stamping, from the lightest to the heaviest required. A typical illustration of Railway Ironwork that can be done in our self-contained works, is our one-piece Draw Bar Hook, which is an article to feet long drawn from the solid, no weld whatever. While articles of the smallest dimensions are produced in their thousands. We specialise in Stampings for the motor and allied trades.
Each department of our organisation specialises in production. At our Head Works - J. BROCKHOUSE and Co., Ltd. - we deal with all classes of Stampings and Forgings, and have the most up-to-date plant for the production of Cart Axles and Ironwork.
R. BERRY and SON, SMETHWICK, is the Motor Spring Department, and absolutely specialise in producing Motor Springs in quantities. At this Branch is housed the most up-to-date plant in the country for dealing with the manufacture of Laminated Springs. We have on our books the names of all the most prominent manufacturers of Motor Cars in the British Isles, while our Overseas Trade from this department is of huge proportions.
R. BERRY and SON, BIRMINGHAM, deal exclusively with Spring Repair and Replacements, and are particularly proud of their service in this direction, giving an eight hours' service when required for the repair or replacement of any spring, whether for Commercial or Private Car.
There is, however, another side of their organisation, because RICHARD BERRY and SON, of SMETHWICK, are equipped to produce springs in large quantities, RICHARD BERRY and SON, of BIRMINGHAM, are laid out to meet the requirements of the small purchaser, and can give a good service in this direction.
R. DISTURNAL and CO., WEDNESBURY, is the Motor Body fitting department of our organisation, and can supply any fitting required for the Coach or Motor Body work. To give some idea of the ramifications of this department, it is only necessary to mention that in their Catalogues are illustrated some thousands of different lines. Special mention should be made of the Brass and Aluminium sections supplied in large quantities by this firm.
JAMES LEACH, LEEDS, is another of our Spring Repair and Replacement Departments, but whilst R. BERRY and SON, BIRMINGHAM, provide the Repair Department for the Midlands and South, JAMES LEACH, of LEEDS, are the Spring Repair Department for Yorkshire and the North.
LONES, VERNON and HOLDEN, LTD., SMETHWICK. For years, Lones, Vernon and Holden, Ltd., have made a speciality of Railway Ironwork. In this Branch of their industry they have excelled in the manufacturing of Buffers, always keeping a Stock of these to enable them to give immediate delivery of all requirements. Knee Bars, Hinge Bars, Gedges Hooks, Droppers and Clips, Draw Bars, Cradles, Special Rolled Se6tions, etc. - all are produced at these works, and, in fact, wherever Railway Ironwork is spoken about the name of Losses, Vernon and Holden, Ltd., is connected with it.
