Youghal Carpets

From Graces Guide

of Cork, Ireland

1954 Company formed.

1959 'The firm was founded five short years ago in the historic town of Youghal and has now blossomed forth to such an extent due to the hard work of directors and employees, the superb quality, design and workmanship of the carpets, that not only are these carpets eagerly sought after in every part of Ireland, but have also established a firm footing in the highly competitive English and Continental markets. In fact, such has been the demand for Youghal Carpets that production in the near future must be stepped up considerably and this will entail much expansion of plant. Extensive showrooms have also been opened In London to cope with increasing demand.'[1]

1968 Acquired Gloucester Carpet Co and Morris and Co of Kidderminster.

1969 Acquired Wilton Royal Carpet Factory

Early 1990s the company was regularly making losses despite restructuring.
