Wrexham and Ellesmere Railway

A 12.75 mile line that ran between the two towns and connected with the Wrexham, Mold and Connah's Quay Railway at Wrexham. [1]
1885 The company was incorporated.
1895 The line, 12.75 miles in length, was opened in the autumn and is worked and maintained by the Cambrian Railways. [2]
1923 Became part of the Great Western Railway. [3]
A 45m lattice girder bridge constructed by the Pearson and Knowles Coal and Iron Co spanned the River Dee at Overton-on-Dee. It was dismantled after closure of the line in 1962. Photos here.
