1707 Henry Wood was born in Leicester.

1730s Henry Wood started producing hosiery.

1748 Partnership formed with Job Middleton, and then joined by John Wightman.

1755 The partnership ended.

1768 Henry Wood died and the business was carried on by his widow Ann.

1842 Robert Walker became a partner in the business with Richard Wood, Henry's grandson.

1849 The firm was renamed Robert Walker and Co.

1883 Robert Walker died, by this time the business had become the largest hosiery company in the region.

1920 After a merger, the company was renamed Wolsey Ltd, and produced sportswear and knitted clothing.

1967 Company acquired by Courtaulds, a textile company.

2002 Company acquired by Matalan, a clothing retailer.
