William Winlaw (London)

From Graces Guide

of Portland Street, Soho, London

1775 Advert: 'WILLIAM WINLAW, Engine-maker, Portland-street, Soho, London, offers the following Engines constructed upon the most approved Principles:
1st. An Engine for cutting Straw for Cattle ; this Machine has given entire satisfaction, being so contrived, that it requires no Practice to make any Person perfect in working it, as the whole Operation is performed by turning a Winch, and it cuts the Straw to any Degree of Fineness required.
2d. An Engine for bruising Oats, Beans, Pease, and Malt, or for pounding tough and hard Bodies in general; it is greatly superior to every Invention before discovered, being lighter, easier worked, will do more Execution, and is not liable to be out of Repair.
3d. A Wheelbarrow upon a new Construction, proper for heavy loads, as a man can wheel more at once than he can at twice with the common barrow.
4th. A Hand Mill for grinding Wheat for private Families.'[1]
