1918 March 09th. Died. 'The death occurred on Saturday morning of Sir William Watson, chairman of the City of Dublin Steam Packet Company, which was founded by his family, and runs steamers from Dublin to Liverpool, Belfast, Manchester, and Birkenhead, in addition to the mail packet service between Kingstown and Holyhead.'[1] 'Sir William occupied the unique position of Director for 46 years, and Chairman ever since the death of his lamented father, in 1883 (presumably William Watson (1804-1883)); for 35 years uninterruptedly presided at the half-yearly meetings - over a third of the Company’s existence...'[2]
