India Rubber Manufacturers

By 1870 W. Warne and Co had presumably changed its name to William Warne and Co

1885 W. Warne and Co received a gold medal for invention in respect of India rubber

1895 The company was registered on 25 January, to acquire the business of indiarubber manufacturers of the firm of the same name. ^[2]

1907 The company purchased land in Barking and built a new factory there - India Rubber Mills - which became the new headquarters.^[3]

During the Second World War the India Rubber Mills escaped serious damage from enemy bombing.^[4]

1945 William Warne and Co amalgamated with the St Alban's Rubber Co Ltd. and The London and Provincal Rubber Co Ltd. was set up as a holding company.^[5]

1968 Lindustries acquired Warne Co which became part of the new Rubber Division.

2000 Icon Material Technolgies (Holdings) Ltd. purchased William Warne and Co and the name was changed to Icon Warne.^[6]

2002 The Barking premises was closed.
